Hilo often has bad vog in the evenings.
Most can't see it, so they don't know it's there.

Could barely see the road, riding the bus from Ma'alaea to Lahaina.

I've only been to Maui once, but I can imagine what you're talking about thinking about the Kings shopping area north of Big I Kona airport. Long stretch of road that could be awful vogged out.

Yep.. I know. but, the quite a ways is relative. for me, it's not a real long ways and is the closest thing north but a bunch of older lava rock that people like to stack. LOL! I love some of those stacks though.

I find the Place of Refuge to have cool beaches and a really nice learning experience when you meet the people who work there.
I learn a lot about native Hawaii there.
